Therapy for relational anxiety
Helvetica Light is an easy-to-read font, with tall and narrow letters, that works well on almost every site.
We'll have up to half an hour to talk, with no obligation to book afterwards. You can ask me questions about therapy and the way I work, and, if you feel comfortable, we can use the time for you to tell me a little bit about what's brought you here. It's really important that you feel like I'm the sort of person you can talk to, so the call is a chance for us to see whether working together feels like the right fit.
The first session is slightly different than our regular sessions will be, as there is some information we will go through together. This includes me taking some onboarding information from you (name, DOB etc) - and we'll talk through the way we will work together, including any goals you may have for therapy.
There is no expectation for you to share everything in our first session. We'll go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
That's completely okay. Therapy can bring up difficult emotions, and there is no expectation that you need to hold everything together. If you cry, become angry or need a moment of silence, we'll work with whatever comes up. We'll always go at a pace that feels right for you.
It's very common to worry about being judged, especially if you're thinking about talking about things you've never shared before.
My aim is to create a space where you can be yourself without worrying about saying the "right" thing. You don't need to edit your thoughts or have everything figured out before you arrive, and I will not judge you for the things you bring to our sessions - my aim is to understand you, not judge you.
I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, life transitions, grief and loss, and feeling stuck or overwhelmed.
Much of my work explores the anxiety and uncertainty that can arise in relationships. I often work with people who feel unsettled in their connections and want to understand themselves more deeply. Together, we look gently at the patterns and emotions that shape how you relate to others and to yourself.
You are welcome to bring anything you like to our sessions. Sometimes there might be something on your mind you want to discuss, other times we can reflect on the week together and see how that feels.
No preparation is needed. You can come exactly as you are.
Many people bring whatever feels present for them that week. Sometimes that can be a particular issue or something that has been on your mind, other times we might start with a bit of a recap of the week. In my experience, it flows from there.
Finding the right therapist with the skills, experience and approach you need is really important. The introductory call gives us both a chance to see whether we feel like a good fit. If we work together, we'll review regularly to see how the sessions feel, and if there's anything you'd like to do differently.
Most sessions last 50 minutes. This usually gives us enough time to explore what's on your mind without feeling rushed.
If 50 minutes feels like too much to begin with, shorter sessions may also be possible. We can talk about what feels right for you.
Sessions can be weekly or fortnightly, depending on what works for you and your schedule. This isn't set in stone - we can do weekly at the start, then move to fortnightly - you are always in control of your sessions and their frequency.
Once you feel you have met your initial goals, we can move to monthly sessions if you would still like ongoing support on a less frequent basis.
This varies for each person. Some people come for a few months, and others choose longer-term work. We can also decide on a set number of sessions you would like to do - this works particularly well when you're bringing a specific issue you'd like to work through together.
We’ll regularly check in to make sure therapy continues to feel supportive and meaningful for you.
Yes — everything you share is confidential and stays between you and me. I'll explain the small number of legal and ethical considerations to this in our first session, and follow up in writing too, so you always know where you stand.
I have regular supervision with other qualified therapists where I talk about the work I am doing with my clients, but your personal details will never be shared and all details remain anonymous.
Yes — I offer both.
You’re welcome to work with me online from anywhere (aside from the US and Canada), or in person at my therapy room in Kent. If you want to do in-person sometimes and remote other times that works for me too. We'll work around what's best for you.
Sessions are £60 for 50 minutes. Payment is due before each session, and I'll provide all the details when we arrange your appointment.
I ask for 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session.
Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged in full.
That’s very normal.
You’re welcome to book an introductory call — they are free and there’s no pressure to continue afterwards. It’s simply a chance to ask questions and get a feel for how I work.
We'll also review our work together regularly, so we can openly discuss where you're at with therapy, including what you're getting from it (or not), anything you'd like to change and how the frequency of your sessions feel.
